Edinburgh International Film Festival 2010
The Edinburgh International Film Festival, the longest continuously run film festival in the world, moved to a new fortnight-long run in June in 2008.
Submission deadlines for filmmakers are Monday 1 March 2010 and a late deadline Monday 8 March 2010. The programme is usually announced about six weeks in advance.
Background
Traditionally, the EIFF took place in August, at the same time as the various other August festivals. Artistic director Hannah McGill, said the EIFF's move to June, was to give the Film Festival more "breathing space." Certainly, there is less pressure on Edinburgh accommodation and more time for fans and media to get stuck into the fest.

Keira Knightley, Sienna Miller, and Matthew Rhys stars of the 2008 EIFF opener, the Dylan Thomas romantic drama The Edge of Love, were in Edinburgh for photocalls on the battlements of Edinburgh Castle. Many of the people behind the Closing film, MySpace user-led movie Faintheart were also here.
The 62nd Edinburgh International Film Festival ran 18-29 June.

Tickets for the EIFF 2009 programme go on sale at noon on Friday 8 May. Get them online or by phone. The In Person events go quickly. The Best of the Fest, at the end of the festival, is a good deal.
