Take home to dream about.

Under an iridescent light an abandoned park with a empty fountain comes to life, birds fly and little creature scuffle in the overgrown plants and discarded rubbish. A child comes on her scooter and ignores the No Entry sign. One of the Lion gateposts speaks and then a boy arrives on his scooter.
The girl is determined to tell a story so is the boy. Finding all they need in the garden they start to tell the story of the swallow who took a rest on his way to Egypt and the sad statue she rested by.

In the garden and the rubbish they find the characters, the props including a golden cloak and various puppets including a ill child made out of cloth scraps and wooden spoons and musician who has a lovely red hottie* but a hole in his roof. The children, Paul Cunningham and Helen McAlpine, also play the Prince and the Swallow.

Both take us off to the magical storyland where statues befriend swallows and crisp packets become rich trimmings. For once this is a show suitable not just for 3 year olds its storytelling richness keeps all ages entertained. The audience find themselves joining in with ease, helping the stories along of the Swallow and the Prince who gets happier and happier as he gives his own riches away.

Sitting on the new comfy fixed seating of the Playhouse watching this show is like sitting warm and cosy on the sofa while your Granny tells you a story you fall into and take home to dream about.
