An enhancing mix of magic, theatre and storytelling.

Virginia Radcliffe cuts a dash as Molly the brave girl balancing on the bridge of the one hair, looking up to the very smelly giant with his enormous feet and meeting tricky King Boris in his castle high above the forest. They, (except the bridge!) are played by Deborah Arnott who's also Mrs Whuppie and Molly's sister Ella. These two actors who last raced one another in Wee Stories' fine The Hare And the Tortoise are back in a fun retelling of this traditional Scottish story.

Molly Whuppie is a little girl and one winter, one very cold winter she has to go and find some food.
Wee Stories bring us her brave journey. There's a tuneful song, words in the programme/ colouring sheet which you can make into puppets later. plenty of things for the audience to join in on or supply - get prepared to be the sea, owls and even bears! More perhaps could have been made of the sea that froze by Molly's house but there's quite a lot of detail and events already in this fast moving tale.

Catherine Lindow has designed a set with lots of surprises, with embroidered details so the story takes place with an enhancing mix of magic, theatre and storytelling. All that's missing is the blazing fire, but when you get home don't be surprised if you find yourself there retelling the story to children and others who want to hear it again..
