At any time of year Lyceum Youth Theatre productions are well worth
going to and how often do you get to see a good play with 28 fine actors?
Don't miss the treat - it's this here now!
It's the summer, your parents have gone on holiday, yes it's party time!
Lyceum Youth Theatre share with us the delights and ups and downs of
teenage social life unsupervised in LyT member Tim Primrose's play.
The youthful and professionally-minded actors fill these well written
parts with excellent physical performances.
There's well out of it Elaine tittering from the vertical with wide
eyes, the three nerdy Johns who even have 3 stashes but not like Yellow's,
the efficient dealer to all. Kate's the dumped girl flooding the kitchen
with tears and Jo the so-understanding straight laced caring friend.
Padraig explains the painful facts of girl attraction looking down at
his best buddy Adam, likeable but small. Olsen and Macy are great friends,
you know should risk becoming even closer and dreamy Rodney surprises
us all with his declaration. Joss hides behind a wicked version of Ali
G, Lily chills with her scarred skin and all 28 powerfully fill the
stage. You really get to know the party goers and love their flaws and
confusion at trying to be adult when so young and mostly innocent. Their
performances are a delight and the Narrator is a tolerant guardian angel
to them all.
There is no false note anywhere and the company can cope with anything
even a total lighting failure on the night I saw it. Without any hesitation
at all they carried on strengthening their already impressive performances
as the Arches team found emergency and house lights. Congratulations
to all, using their notable skills this here now lost none of
its own considerable power.
