Company - Det lille Turnéteater (Denmark) Company Website. Seen to review at NEAC Edinburgh 26 May 2005. Run Time - 40 mins NO interval. Suggested Age - 3 - 6 years old . Reviewer - Alex Eades. Beautiful but little heart. The audience can see Dorthes feelings. They can see the butterflies dancing in her stomach when her best friend Rasmus comes around. They can even see her dreaming of mouth watering lollipops late at night. Sounds wonderful? It is…….at least to look at. Dorthes Heart looks and sounds great, which entertains for a while but quickly becomes repetitive and loses our interest. When I say ‘our’ interest, I mean a 23 year old and an auditorium full of 3-6 year olds. There were some genuine giggles from the youthful crowd and a real passion to get involved in the show at times, but it never really captivated them enough to stop them looking at the ceiling. Why? The second half of the show is far too similar to the first half, which could have used some of the sparkle that was witnessed during the first five minutes. The performances are not really note worthy either. There is a sense of desperation in their acts of clowning, which never really pulls off.
