What does the accommodation service offer?
Our accommodation service is a cost-effective listings service for hotels,
bed-and-breakfasts, guesthouses and hostels. You can use our active listings
to update and change contact details and to publish and unpublish information
online about your accommodation at any time. For example, if you no longer
have available accommodation you can log in to your account and remove your
listing or add a notice to your listing saying that certain dates are now
booked up.

How do you promote the accommodation listings?
EdinburghGuide.com has become well established, since its launch in 1998,
as one of the world's top portals for visitors to Edinburgh to find out
more about the city. The accommodation listings are promoted throughout
EdinburghGuide.com, on our sister
sites in the UK including Hogmanay.net
and iofilm as well as other partner
sites. We are also promoting our accommodation listings through a range
of print publications and we draw on many years experience in online marketing.

How do I get listed?
few short steps to activating a listing.
[ top ]
How much does it cost?
There is a one-off fee for listing individual properties for a period of
a year starting from the period when you activate a property for
the first time. You can deactivate your listing (so it does not appear on
the web) and reactivate it later, but the fee covers a calendar year from
the time you first activate a property. Please
check our rates here.

How do I pay for my listing?
Once you have set up an account, you can pay either us via Nochex,
a secure third party payment facility, using most credit and debit cards,
or you can post a cheque to us.

How do I do list my hotel, bed and breakfast or guesthouse?
You simply register for an account by filling in the online form. Once you
have set up an account, log in and click “Add a new property”.
Fill in the required fields (ticking the “Make listing active box”
at the end if you want the property to become immediately active).

When does my listing become active?
The listing will become active within seven days of receipt of payment.

How do I add a photograph of my property?
There are several ways to add a photo to your listing:
1. When you receive your confirmation email from us click reply and attach an image, preferably of less than one megabyte (1MB), and we will post it up for you.
2. When you receive an email from us reply with instructions to use a photograph off your web site.
3. Request that we send a photographer to your accommodation to take a digital
photograph (we may charge a fee for this).
We recommend you include a recent photograph of your property. After registering you can email an image or ask that we use an image off your website.

How do I edit my listing?

How do I turn a property listing off?
You can turn the listing “off” or deactivate the listing, simply

on tick the box beside the property under the "inactive" heading
and click the "activate/show" button.

I have created an account and added a property listing, so why
can’t I see it?
This is probably because we have not received payment.
The activation process requires first that you activate the property and
then once we receive payment and authenticated your listing our webmaster
can authorise your listing. Please contact
us if you have sent payment and your listing has not appeared.
