End to End: An Uplifting Theatre Journey

It started with a bike ride. Then there were horses, a limo, a rickshaw and a trio of micro lights. When three actresses decided to travel the 874 miles from Land's End to John O'Groats, they weren't about to take the train.

Firstly, the £1-per-mile travel allowance wouldn't have got them far and secondly, they wouldn't have had the same opportunity to talk to people and explore Britain’s heritage by gathering stories from the encounters they made.

The Nottingham-based, all female company devise witty, interactive theatre with a twinkle in its eye, and upon return from their epic adventure they made a heart-warming, honest and funny piece of theatre about their experiences. Now they are repeating their journey and taking the show on the road with them.

The performance, entitled End to End, comes to the Scottish Storytelling Centre on Thursday 30 May at 7.30pm and Hannah Stone, Artistic Director of Gramophones Theatre Company recalls fond memories of their time in Edinburgh:
“Some of the best forms of transport we got were in Edinburgh. A ride in a rickshaw, three of us plus our bags! The poor guy cycling looked exhausted by the time we’d finished. A story bike tour up to Arthur’s Seat and a big red London bus drive across the Forth Bridge. Stunning.”

Hannah Stone is joined by performers Ria Ashcroft and Kristy Guest who explore friendship, risk, connections and the random acts of kindness they encountered, with the aim to encourage and inspire audiences, as Stone explains:
“We decided to make this journey because we felt that we didn’t really know Britain that well and we wanted to get out there and meet people we would never normally meet, do things we would never normally do. And we came back excited and uplifted about the world we live in.”

End to End will leave onlookers craving adventure and wondering why they didn’t think of doing it first… So what are you waiting for?
