Edinburgh Council Tax Rates

The Council Tax is the only tax set by Edinburgh City Council. It is a local tax on domestic properties, based on the "open market value" of your home, which goes towards funding local public services in the capital.

Edinburgh City Council, for a second year in succession, froze the Council Tax for 2009/2010. Although Council Tax is the same as for the previous year, residents will still see a small increase in their bills as Scottish Water has increased its charges by 3.7%.
