Description

Join historical crime fiction writer E.S. Thomson for a unique creative writing workshop. In this 3 hour session you will use real historical material from one of the oldest medical collections in the UK. Images, documents, books, artefacts, all selected by E.S. Thomson and the College Archivists, will be your inspiration.

There will be an informal talk about using archive material for writing fiction before participants create a work of their own. Images and documents will be used to encourage writers to engage with real period detail – how was language used, what procedures were current and what were the circumstances of the medical world?

E.S. Thomson is the author of the Jem Flockhart medical history crime series, 'Beloved Poison', 'Dark Asylum' and 'The Blood'. Her work has been shortlisted for the Saltire Prize, the Scottish Arts Council First Book Award and the Crime Writers Historical Dagger Award.
