Description

Good times as the Leith Festival Gala Day - the highlight of the Leith Festival - takes place down on Leith Links.

The Gala Day has been going for over a century. The festival started in 1907 with a pageant and Gala day (badge day) to raise funds for Leith Hospital, before the National Health Service had come into being.

The gala day traditionally takes place on the second Saturday of June. The Leith Festival Pageant and Tattoo takes place on the last day of the festival.

Gala Day sees a programme of live bands, starting at 11am with Port of Leith Pipe Band on the main stage, as well as stalls selling everything from arts and crafts, bric-a-brac, antiques, an eclectic selection of food in the shape of Gala Day Global Kitchen, and Taylor's funfair.

Headlining the main stage in 2026 is Duke Duncan & the Hurricanes (seen in the video in Leith Links).

Details of bands, food and entertainment available from the website.
