Holyrood Park is the setting for what is billed as "Scotland's largest ever Highland Games", the Gathering 2009. Over 100 clan chiefs will be assembling at the historic Highland Games meeting, a centrepiece of the Homecoming Scotland year of celebrations.
In the early evening on Saturday, a parade leads up the Royal Mile from Holyrood to Edinburgh Castle for a clan pageant on the Castle Esplanade.
Clan tents, bagpipers, highland dancers, caber tossers, hammer throwers and the like will all be found down in the large green expanse of Holyrood Park for on the Sunday.
