Scottish Storytelling Centre Marks St Andrews Day

Time & place
Description

On Saturday 28th November, the Scottish Storytelling Centre has a special treat for all ages with a free, drop-in afternoon that brings all generations together in a celebration of yarns with Between the Generations: Sharing the Stories from 2pm to 4.30pm.

This event brings together all aspects of storytelling and the afternoon will build bridges between the generations through storytelling, highlight basic storytelling skills and ensure that all participants have fun!

In honour of St Andrew’s Day, the Storytelling Centre is taking part in the Scottish Government’s Homecoming Finale with a participative afternoon of activities which asks what Scotland means to you. Whether living in Scotland or just visiting, this is an opportunity to come along to an enjoyable event for all age groups and share tales. St Andrew is the symbol of Scottish identity and the Centre’s light and airy Court hosts an afternoon of traditional and contemporary tales from Scotland, hosted by talented storytellers Jean Edmiston and Sheena Blackhall. Bring along stories of your own to share in this informal get-together for all the family, celebrating all things Scottish in an event that will be fun for all the family.

Workshop: Develop storytelling skills among the generations

Fittingly feeding into our free drop in event, you can spend the whole day developing your skills in the Centre’s participatory workshop. From 10.30am on the 28th November, Jean and Sheena explore society’s need for places and spaces that bring the generations and their stories together, from grannie and grandpa tales to the fresh discoveries of early years. The workshop will consist of interactive exercises and performances that are suitable and pleasurable for two, three or even four generations to attend together. Share stories and memories down through the generations in a fun and informative day for young and old alike.
