Glasgow Film Festival
Glasgow's annual international film festival opens with the Scottish premiere of Micmacs, by Amélie and Delicatessen director Jean Pierre Jeunet and closes with US set thriller Legacy, which was co-produced by local production company Black Camel and stars The Wire's Idris Elba.
The festival in 2010 features a broad range of cinema from a Cary Grant retrospective, Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart, and experimental Scottish shorts.
At the centre of things is the Glasgow Film Theatre, and for those not making the short trip across to Glasgow, the fest is promising to carry photos and live webcasts of red carpet events via its web site.
Although not as established as the Edinburgh International Film Festival, the GFF programme draws together events across 17 city venues.
Film strands include:
- The Best of British
- Cary Grant retrospective
- Departures - New Japanese Cinema
- European Cinema
- FashionArtFilm
- FrightFest
- Great Scots
- It's a Wonderful World (global cinema)
- Out of the Past (Classic and restored films)
- The State of Independents (US indies)
- Stranger Than Fiction (documentaries)
