Description

Aileen Christianson will talk about 19th century women writing both for publication and in private letters and the ways in which they could suggest radical criticism of women's position without necessarily being radical themselves. She will concentrate on Scottish writers such as Jane Welsh Carlyle, Margaret Oliphant, Ellen Johnston and Christian Watt, but reserves the right to stray south of the border
