The Festival of Dangerous Ideas is a Scotland-wide series of events that "aims to re-establish the importance of dangerous ideas as agents of change in education - to shift the axis of what is possible."
The festival's launch event is at 10am at the National Museum of Scotland where homage is paid to the "dangerous" ideas of the past, followed later in the day with an evening Philosopher's Cafe discussion at the Captain's Bar on the subject of whether Education Is Dangerous.
Events in Edinburgh over the next few days of the festival's run include a free Guerrilla Gardening Breakfast at the Royal Botanic Garden and a look at how meditation can improve eduction at Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre for World Peace and Health.
The fest closes with the Emporium of Dangerous Ideas, where participants will be flogging "dangerous ideas" using a special, personalised coinage system at the Merchant Hall in Edinburgh.
