Description

Ceilidhs in Unlikely Places is an exciting one-day music and dance event designed to take a contemporary look at a historic Scottish tradition, by moving the ceilidh dance out of function suites and town halls and putting it in the very heart of Edinburgh’s city centre.

This community project takes place throughout Thursday 12th July and promises to be fun for all ages and abilities, featuring a skilled caller and a lead couple to lead less-experienced participants through the dances.

Each ceilidh in the series is designed as a pop-up event, starting suddenly and lasting less than an hour, before the party picks up and moves to the next location.

All events are free and open to the public, beginning in Bristo Square at 12:30pm, before moving on to a ‘mystery location’ (to be revealed on the day) from 2:00-3:00pm, and then concluding with the grand finale in the Grassmarket beginning at 4:00pm.
