Historic Scotland presents its third annual Community Fun Day and Dog Show aimed at all the family.

This free day out features three-legged races, an obstacle course and rock climbing, and visitors can meet Historic Scotland’s Holyrood Park Rangers and members of the emergency services.

Park Ranger Matt McCabe encourages dog owners to bring their dogs along to show off their skills.

“There’s a have-a-go agility course, and if you haven’t tried this before, our resident dog expert will show you the ropes. We also have a Dogs Trust fun dog show, where there will be prizes for dog with the waggiest tail, most handsome dog, and a dog egg and spoon race," he says.

“Visitors without their own canine companion can just enjoy the spectacle, or try rock climbing on a climbing wall, uncover ancient secrets with our archaeology dig, or attempt the Holyrood Park obstacle course.”

There is a serious side too. Together with the PDSA, the Dogs Trust is offering a free microchipping service for your dog, as well as a free health check.

Parking is available at the Broad Pavement car park. Sunday access into the Park is from the Holyrood Road and Scottish Parliament entrances only.
