Description

Cadenza makes its 12th annual appearance at this service, leading the music as well as performing some of the choir's own Christmas repertoire.

There will also be the opportunity to hear a small selection of Christmas music from St George's Girls' Choir.

FREE entry with a retiring collection in aid of Erskine.

Erskine has been providing nursing, medical, palliative and respite care and support for war veterans since WW1. None of this is cheap, and the charity relies entirely on voluntary donations - so ALL money raised from the evening will help Erskine continue its renowned standard of care for veterans in the East of Scotland, including the Erskine Edinburgh Home in Gilmerton.

This is a very moving, as well as uplifting, fundraising event, attended by some of the Edinburgh Erskine residents, and Cadenza is very proud to have helped raise thousands of pounds for Erskine since 2000. Raise your voices during the evening, and a glass afterwards, to make your contribution to this worthy cause and celebrate the real start of the Christmas season.

Cadenza is considered to be one of Scotland's finest and most exciting amateur mixed-voice choirs, critically acclaimed at Edinburgh Fringe Festivals and Carols by Candlelight concerts in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and Usher Hall Edinburgh. The choir is regularly invited to perform at prestigious events, such as headlining the relaunch of Historic Scotland’s Christmas events in the Great Hall at Stirling Castle, and has also been broadcast several times on BBC Radio 3, Radio 4 and Radio Scotland.

Cadenza's most recent CD - Bright Star: Cadenza at Christmas - was very warmly received by critics, audiences, choral directors and composers, who praised the selection of music as refreshing and a fascinating collection of carols offering new programme options for Christmas. It was reviewed in Classical Music Magazine by Guardian Music Critic, Phil Sommerich, and received playtime on BBC Radio 3 and Classic FM.
