Description

Launched in 2011, "Previously" is a volunteer-driven local history festival. In 2015, the programme runs over five days following Robert Louis Stevenson Day on the 13th November. It comes before St Andrews Day on 30th November and the start of the Winter Festivals.

A shorter programme of events in 2015 delves into Edinburgh and Scotland's colourful history, from talks ranging from witch persecution to ghosts, a comedy play MacBraveheart to a plainsong concert in Rosslyn chapel.

Previously is organised by a community business and led by Festival Director Susan Morrison and Festival Producer Ian Harrower the team. They brought together a coalition of Scotland's heritage, tourism, academic and local history communities in response to the feeling that "Our history has for too long been hidden in a sort of national attic".
