Probably the most important talk that you can see at the Edinburgh International Science Festival, particularly in light of the recent Paris Agreement in December.

Climate scientist Chris Rapley is former director of the British Antarctic Survey, who has been warning for years that lack of action on climate change will have catastrophic impacts in future decades.

His one man show "2071: The World We’ll Leave Our Grandchildren" looks at how climate has changed in the past, how and why it is changing now, and the need for humanity to act to avoid dangerous disruption in the future.

Here he talks about the context, rationale and content of the play (rather than performing the play itself).

Chris Rapley won the Edinburgh Medal in 2008. Read the report here: Governments Fiddle as Climate's Tipping Point Reached Says Edinburgh Medal Winner.
