Edinburgh International Book Festival
The temporary, tented village at Charlotte Square's Georgian garden, in the heart of Edinburgh's New Town, is the venue for the Edinburgh International Book Festival. Launched in 1983, the "biggest festival of the written word in the world" brings 900 or so writers, poets, thinkers, politicians, photographers and artists from 55 countries to debate, discuss, argue and inspire. The book fest includes a major programme of children's book events.
Access to the venue is free, with hundreds of paid literary events. On a sunny day, the tented village is a good place to stop for a coffee and settle in for a read.
Tickets go on sale on Tuesday 21 June at 8.30am: on-line, by phone on 0845 373 5888 or in person on Tuesday 21 June only at the Roxburghe Hotel, Charlotte Square, Edinburgh, and thereafter will move to The Hub, Castlehill.
