Part of the Edinburgh Quartet Folk performance project, which highlights composers whose work has been inspired by folk music spanning two centuries from Beethoven to the present day. Alasdair Nicolson's String Quartet, written for EQ, was directly influenced by Gaelic folksong; Kodály's String Quartet takes Hungarian folk music as its starting point, and Beethoven borrows from Russia!
