To mark the centenary of the Russian Revolution the Edinburgh Quartet presents a programme which acknowledges the direct impact of Russian politics on Shostakovich, but also looks at Mozart's quartet writing at the time of the French Revolution. Beethoven's String Quartet Op 59 No 3 still shocks listeners today with its daring revolutionary spirit.
