Event details
Time:
Thursday, April 4, 2019 - 6:00pm - 8:00pm

As part of the IPCC week, the Royal Society of Edinburgh hosts a free interactive panel session on women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths).

The discussion follows up on the ‘Tapping All Our Talents’ report which reviewed the progress that’s been made at increasing the proportion of women working and studying STEM in Scotland.

A diverse panel of women will share their personal experiences and provide insight into the challenges and barriers they have faced in rising to senior positions in their fields. As well as looking at achievements in building more diversity in STEM fields, the discussion will ask what more needs to be done.

Panel

  • Dr Rebekah Widdowfield, RSE Chief Executive (Chair)
  • RSE Fellow Prof Mercedes Maroto-Valer
  • Scottish Government – Dr Sara Grainger, Head of Decarbonisation Delivery Unit
  • International Panel on Climate Change - Joana Portugal Pereira, Senior Scientist IPCC Working Group III
  • Scottish Renewables - Claire Mack, Chief Executive Officer

Tea and coffee will be available from 17.30.

The audience is asked to actively participate in the Q&A session and the evening will conclude with reception drinks.
