Event details
Venue:
Inverleith Park

One night each June, since the first Edinburgh Moonwalk in 2006, thousands of women (and men) powerwalk the streets of Edinburgh in their decorated bras to raise money for breast cancer research and cancer care.

There are two challenges The Full Moon (26.2 miles) or The Half Moon (13.1 miles) which start and end in Inverleith Park. With so many participants the start time is staggered from 10pm onwards.

The MoonWalk - so-called because it takes place under the light of the moon - has raised millions for charity. The other MoonWalk is the MoonWalk London.

Together the MoonWalks have raised over £14 million (£2 million in 2011 alone). The majority of the money raised in Edinburgh, goes towards Scottish causes.

Among those who regularly take part are TV presenter and columnist Lorraine Kelly. When asked if she will be walking in the event last year, she said “You bet. I will still be taking part in The Scottish MoonWalk in my Zimmer frame. It is a fantastic, emotional and fun night.”
