Fur ra peasants amung us, John explained that they help bring Festival

They go back a few years. The reception wis in ra British Cooncil building

Richard
Demarco

Ra
music wis supplied by a cracking Haitian vodou rock band called Ram, who
played converted rone pipes an other strange hamemade instruments, but
they were the bee knees.Ye can see them at the Pleasance over the Road
at 9.10 pm each night. We met Edinburgh's best kent impressario Richard
Demarco, a man who has brought mair guid foreign artists to Edin than
any other buddie. John calls him the eternal phoenix.
John and I, then went aff tae ra Assembly tae see a guid show at fowr
oclock, caed "If I were me" performed by a lassie called Gay Marshall.
Definitely worth seein.
I think an afternoon had put oor editor aff spending anymare time wie
me. The trouble is he disnae drink when he's working. John went aff tae
dae some editing an sort oot the web-site. After that he telt me he vis
invited to a reception wi ra Cuban ambassador, ah said "ask him fur a
box 'o' his cigars".
"That will be right," said John. His pairtin shot "was get your
copy in by 3.00am, Fergie".
"Aye boss". Slave driver, still wi ten reviewers, he spends
mare time working than me.
A fish supper at La Alba Doro hit the spot fur tea, a swift goldie in
Clarks bar, a chat wi a few kent cheils an it wis back tae ra festival.
Sometimes ah think that the festival doesnae exist fur the normal Edinburghers.
A thought trip oan ra free Perrier bus wid be ra ticket - well its free.
What a mixed bunch wis there on top o the double deck. A group of young
local luvvies whae are dain Oliver, an twa fella's frae America
that were a double act fur Cheech and Chong, and they wernae even appearing
at the festival, an av paid tae see worse, still it wis a guid sing song.
A cuplae goldies in the club bar wie ra stars, then hamewurd…..see ya
ra morra…Fergie
