Edith Simon Once Again
This
is an unusual exhibition. The artist herself, in a Tina Turner-esque
blond wig, glasses with huge green frames and in, without wishing
to stare- what looked like her party dress, was seated behind a huge
desk in front of which was a video screen showing how she makes her
'papercut bas relief' work. This work creates impressions as do paintings,
but is obtained by cutting with a scalpel through layers of paper,
usually of different colour. The effect is bold, and rather like a
print, but can be very ornate and intricate. There were also some
of her sculptures, in bronze resin. This is worth a visit if you are
in the neighbourhood if only from the curiosity value.
Mon-Sat 10:30am to 6:00pm.
