| The Perrier winner was announced shortly after
midnight on Saturday, 24th August (UK Bank Holiday weekend). The prize is a trophy, a cheque for £7,500 and the opportunity for the winner and shortlist to appear in London as part of the acclaimed PERRIER PICK OF THE FRINGE SEASON in Londons West End in October. This year celebrating its 21st anniversary the Perrier Award was created as a way of supporting young talent in a completely original way. The competition has grown at an unprecedented rate. In 1984 only 40 shows were eligible for the award while this year the judges have over 160 different shows to see. Previous Perrier winners have included Garth Marenghis Netherhead, Rich Hall as Otis Lee Crenshaw, Jenny Eclair, Lee Evans and League of Gentleman.
