St Andrew's and St George's church are holding daily recitals till 24 August, and Anne-Isabel Meyer has just completed her performance of Johann Sebastian Bach's series of six suites for Violoncello, performed over three days.

An accomplished cellist, she has played with a variety of orchestras, including the English Chamber Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and is a member of the Amersham Festival orchestra. All the suites have six movements, all ranging in tempo and mood. Technically very challenging, they embrace the entire range of the instrument, and require a high level of expertise from the musician. Anne-Isabel Meyer has played these suites on many occasions and her familiarity with the music enables her to comfortably create some lovely sonorous tones on the cello, particularly in the allegro passages.

Listening to the suites was a marvellous way of escaping from hustle and bustle of the Fringe and as this is her third year performing Bach, you may well have the opportunity of hearing her recital next year.
