Tipped to win this year's Perrier (but so is everyone), Lucy Porter’s chatty humour about the little things that you need proved to be a much more enjoyable time than I was expecting.

Porter on tv hadn't made much of an impression on me, but in her live solo performance she really came into her own. Calling her show The Bare Necessities because she likes the song, Porter displayed a cutesy comic flare.

Like many other comedians, Porter used "story-humour," regaling the audience with things from her past and making them funny. Most of the time it was the way that she told the story, with her talkative and very girly style.

One thing that many people found hard to grasp was how fast she could actually talk. I found it enjoyable, as she reminded me of a few people that I know. Porter’s use of the audience was also very impressive, showing that she really can think on her feet, which some comics really can’t do.

I did feel at points that the show lacked any direction, but this is something that she explained along the way, along with the saying, "having more shit doesn’t make you happy."

It is refreshing to see someone charm their way through humour, and by the end of the sixty minutes, the whole audience was hanging on the end of her very fast words.

I know you are wondering what the Bare Necessities of life are, according to Porter. You will have to go along and find out; it is worth it.
