This Great British Soap Opera deserves to win the ratings war! A cliché? Well, take a
failing soap opera called Victoria Square and set it in Manchester and what do you expect?

Entertaining it is. It's frothy, there's no heavy message - just a quality cast of six actors who deliver songs and dialogue that is mainly trivial but listenable.

There is no obvious star, all the cast play their parts to the full. Even Sophie, upper class from Surrey who throws herself into the soap and at the leading man has some endearing qualities.

Emily, the make-up girl has some of the best lines along with Alfie as the gay best friend. The material is topical and it helps to know your soaps to get the best out of the script.

The audience is up close and personal in this small venue and credit to the actors
for coping with the swim shoot scene without the comfort zone of an orchestra
pit. It's all fairly clean fun, but maybe not for all the family.

The music is good and the lyrics are clever and well sung, but probably not of a standard
for audiences to clamour for a cast recording.
