The Exhibition Leon Morrocco, and Scottish Contemporary Masters

The Place
The Open Eye Gallery, 75-79 Cumberland Street

The Blurb As you enter the Gallery you can't help but notice a six foot ceramic sculpture, shaped not unlike a rolling pin on a plinth, on the floor! Not unattractive, if you have the space for it!

However, this is mainly an exhibition of Leon Morrocco's Mediterranean scenes. Italy and France seem to be Morrocco's inspiration for many of his paintings and ceramics. His brilliant flat colours, and the narrative element, often with a quirky sense of humour, are always evident in his work. Look at 'Assignation', a painting of an urban scene.

Through a window festooned with washing, the viewer sees a barely concealing nude in the room beyond. At the lower window, there is a man climbing the stairs in her direction. Followers of this popular Artist will love this exhibition. John Bellany, Charles MacQueen, Sir Robin Philipson, Jack Knox, and other renowned Scottish Contemporary artists are also on display in the Lower Gallery.

The Time Mon.-Fri.10a.m. -6p.m. Sat. 10 -4, until 30 August (12 noon)
