Tommy has already held  a similar dinner for around 100 guests at his  Raj Hotel in    London. At that dinner, the UK head of WFP launched Tommy’s appeal to his many    friends and contacts in Bangladeshi and Indian restaurants throughout the world to     raise funds for Haiti.

WFP is the largest and most experienced body working to eliminate world hunger and starvation. It was swift to aid Haiti, providing 10 million ready meals to 430,000 quake survivors in Port au Prince in the first week after the quake. It has since set up at least 16   centres in the capital, where only women  can obtain ready meals and foodstuffs,  thus  making sure that life-preserving essentials go direct to families in need.
