BRITANNIA SET FOR THE RETURN OF THE ROYAL MARINES

A 28-strong Band of Her Majesty's Royal Marines Scotland, who are based at the east coast port of Rosyth, promise to deliver a flavour of their musical excellence when they visit The Royal Yacht Britannia, Edinburgh's award-winning Leith-based 5 star visitor attraction, this Thursday, July 31st.

The Royal Marines - who once carried out a range of duties on board The Royal Yacht before its decommissioning in 1997, and who were best known as Britannia's band - are set to provide an enthralling short display of their vast and varied musical repertoire on board the main deck of The Royal Yacht at 11am.

100 Royal Marines are expected to take the Castle Esplanade by storm this summer as they perform at the spectacular 24-performance run of the 59th Edinburgh Tattoo (1-23 August), staged against the imposing backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

Britannia's Head of Visitor Experience Julia Stephenson said: "Royal Marines Bands have a long and illustrious association with the Royal Yacht, so we're once again delighted to welcome the Marines on board Britannia."

Thursday's Tattoo Royal Marines Britannia visit is part of a combined commitment to common concepts and goals and the provision of mutual support to help our respective visitor-driven businesses.
