New Director of Scottish National Portrait Gallery

The Director-General of the National Galleries of Scotland yesterday announced the appointment of Christopher Baker as the new Director of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery in Edinburgh.  He will take up his position at the Portrait Gallery on 1 August 2012.  His selection followed an international search led by the recruitment company Odgers Berndtson. 

Free Exhibition Explores Art of Drawing

A new free exhibition, opening this Saturday at the City Art Centre, looks at the art of drawing. A Parliament of Lines (5 May - 8 July 2012) will exhibit the work of fifteen contemporary artists, most working at an international level, all of whom use drawing as an important element in their practice.
