Macmillan Annual Art Exhibition at the Fringe

Macmillan Cancer Support’s annual art exhibition has grown over 12 years to become a much anticipated event on Edinburgh’s calendar. This year, as part of the Festival Fringe (Venue 216 - Bonhams), it has the title INSPIRED! to reflect the variety and brilliance of the art, and the amazing work done by Macmillan.

The preview on 13th August is to be launched by Alexander McCall Smith and an exceptional work will be auctioned: a Book Sculpture specially created for the show by the famous, but mysteriously unknown, sculptor. The piece will remain on display for the duration of the show, which is free to all visitors.

On Sunday 17th August there will be a public talk on Art and the Healing Environment with representatives from Artlink, Art in Healthcare and artists with experience of the sector. It will be chaired by Dr. Donnie Ross, a former consultant and now a painter himself.

INSPIRED! is open to the public at Bonhams, 22 Queen Street from 14th - 17th, August. The range of works by some 140 emerging and established artists ensures something for all tastes and budgets. Designer handmade jewellery by six noted Scottish jewellers will also be for sale as well as unframed prints, photographs and original artwork.
