Controversy seems to follow brilliant-but-flawed fiddler Ashley MacIssac - and some of the outrageous stories he has propagated have without a doubt been part of the reason that we have not heard more of him.
MacIssac who hails from Nova Scotia, Canada, has been skewered by the media for his on-stage behaviour, his sexual tastes, lifting his kilt on television to reveal he was a true Scotsman, and rants both on and off stage. If you haven't heard his music, you can hear him playing at Hogmanay at the free Night Afore Fiesta on George Street on the 30th December (the event runs 8pm to midnight). He's headlining on the Main Stage.
You can also catch the Portobello Ceilidh Band leading an attempt at the world record for the Longest Strip the Willow at 9pm at the same stage.
