The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh is adding an extra Halloween "fright night" on Monday 31st October for its popular Botanic Lights after-dark show.

Tickets are now available for special ‘Botanic Frights’ sessions, which will run every 15 minutes on Monday evening from 5.45pm until 8pm.

Among the Halloween highlights will be specially carved pumpkins, the opportunity to toast marshmallows over an open fire and additional spooky entertainment.

Families and children are encouraged to dress up in their spookiest costumes.

“Tickets for Botanic Lights this year are selling faster than in any previous year," said Heather Jackson, Director of Enterprise at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.

"With over 30,000 tickets issued to date, and many of the sessions completely sold out, we wanted to offer families a special Halloween experience and tickets are now available for special Botanic Frights sessions on Monday evening.”

Penny Dougherty, Director of Unique Events, said ‘We were so impressed with all the Halloween costumes at Botanic Lights last year, we can’t wait to see what children and visitors come up with to join in the fun at the first Botanic Frights family event. A night-time stroll around the Gardens will be fang-tastic!’’

Botanic Lights 2016 – Explore runs until 6 November and takes visitors on a journey of light around the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh exploring regions of the world where the Garden’s plants and trees originate.
