Around 10,000 runners - many dressed as superheroes - will be pounding the streets of Edinburgh for charity today in the 10k BUPA Great Edinburgh Run. BAFTA award winning ‘Stacey' from Gavin and Stacey, Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams and BBC Scotland Radio DJ Bryan Burnett have all signed up with a host of other famous faces to take part.

Stars taking part hail from popular TV shows including EastEnders, Shameless, Holby Blue, Taggart and Emmerdale. Leith actress Shauna McDonald, otherwise known as MI5 agent Sam Buxton in Spooks will be running on behalf of Leukaemia Research alongside actor Ben Jones, whose best man tragically died from non Hodgkin's lymphoma.

The race starts 10.20am, but runners will be out some time before that at the assembly and start point on Melville Drive on The Meadows.

May the 4th be with you!
