Reviewers Wanted

EdinburghGuide.com is looking for additional contributors to cover Edinburgh's exciting arts and cultural events.

This includes reviewing shows at Edinburgh's many festivals (in particular, the Fringe), galleries, comedy shows, and other entertainment.

We have a small team of reviewers who between them cover the major seasonal shows in Edinburgh theatres such as Traverse, Royal Lyceum, The King’s Theatre, Festival Theatre and Playhouse with smaller venues such as The Brunton, Scottish Storytelling Centre, Churchhill, Bedlam and Summerhall being included where possible.

The team is made up of volunteers but the criteria in the first instance is an ability to write well and having a passion for, and some experience of, writing about theatre or the arts. You should be able to turn round copy in a timeous manner, submitting work within 24 hours of seeing the show.

While we are volunteers, a professional standard is expected. This involves good communication among the team, particularly in the event of being unable to cover a show.

Reviewers are expected to organise their complementary tickets, cast and production information with images from press offices. It is expected that reviewers attend press nights when possible so that the EG review is out along with the major publications.

As a guideline reviews should be between 200 and 400 words. Festival reviews may be shorter, from 150 to 300 words.
