Billy Connolly Fans Crash Usher Hall's Ticket Web Site

By edg - Posted on 06 July 2009

Billy Connolly takes a bow

There were echoes of last summer's Fringe ticketing fiasco today when tickets for Billy Connolly's gigs at the Usher Hall in September went on sale this morning and crashed the venue's online box office.

Angry and frustrated fans of the Big Yin complained of web site error messages and constantly engaged telephone lines.

The venue has an online and telephone box office, but the building itself is closed while it undergoes a £25 million renovation.

The Usher Hall has posted a message on the front of its website assuring that tickets are still available for the Connolly gigs:

"We are still working with our IT partners in order to fix the system problems we have experienced today.

For those of you trying to book for Billy Connolly we can assure you that there are still tickets left and we hope to have them on sale again soon. However we can can tell you that no more tickets for these events will be sold before 10am tomorrow. So you don't need to keep checking back tonight.

We will post a further update here tomorrow on our progress towards fixing the technical issues.

Once again, we apologise for what we are aware has been a major inconvenice today."

The site is falling over again and telephone line is permanently engaged again - good luck to anyone trying to get tickets
i have been trying to get tickets for billy connolly since they went on sale saturday morning at the SECC in glasgow and there site crashed and then there phones where engaged at all times,i didnt get through at all and then read in the sunday paper an extra 2 dates had been added so called straight away and eventually got through to be told they had sold out on the saturday,i explained to them the problems i had the day before but there was no sympathy at all and was told bluntly the tickets are sold out .what a disappointment. So i decided to try the edinburgh venue instead only to be met with the exact same problems as the SECC ,i have tried since monday morning and this morning i have been trying and trying but still the phones are engaged at all times ,the website doesnt even give you an option of booking tickets, when you search for billy connolly he isnt even there ,i am so disappointed and it looks like yet again i will not get any tickets ,i wonder if billy connolly knows how these people have treated his many fans ,they have let us all down who have been trying for days to get tickets
I just tried the ticket line again and am still getting the engaged signal. I see that there are tickets already being re-sold on ticket tout web sites so obviously some (the wrong) people are getting through and getting confirmation that they have tickets.
just a wee update for u,billy connolly is showing up now on the usherhalls website, took me ages to book my tickets but i eventually managed to, there isnt really many seats left, so i would get on quick and snap up the little thats left if u want to go
i have tried and tried all day and cant get anywhere, im absolutely furious ,i have been trying since tickets went on sale in glasgow on saturday ,and still have no ticket,, the organisers really have messed up big time and i for one am very disappointed and will not get to see billy perform now
