Oldest Book In Scotland Goes on Display

Edinburgh University's Main Library yesterday opened its doors for the inaugural exhibition, Masterpieces I, of rare objects including the earliest surviving book in Scotland, the Celtic Psalter.

It is speculated that the 11th century, pocket-sized copy of the Psalms of King David was handwritten in Latin by the monks of Iona Abbey (they also wrote the famous Book of Kells).

New University Building at Potterrow Wins RICS Award

Considering that in the past sixty years the university has allegedly been
responsible for the demolition of many Georgian buildings, it is refreshing
to hear that the recently completed Informatics building at Potterrow has won a Royal Institute of
Chartered Surveyers Scotland Award.

Donald Trump Wins Stupid Award

Donald Trump and the European Emissions Trading Scheme have come out tops in the inaugural Stupid Awards, beating a shortlist of "some of the most notorious climate-trashers" in Scotland, including the Royal Bank of Scotland, budget airline Ryan Air and the Scottish Government.

Scots universities are involved in "world-leading" research with Edinburgh University topping Scotland's universities for the quality of its research, according to a report just published.

A supercomputer which it is expected to offer insights into many burning scientific questions of the day from climate change, to questions about the evolution of the universe and sub-nuclear particles, was launched today at Edinburgh University.
