The Beltane Fire Society - best known for the Beltane Fire Festival on Calton Hill - bring their unique brand of neo-pagan street theatre, pulsating drums, acrobatics, and fire dancing to Edinburgh's historic Royal Mile on Hallowe'en night. Samhuinn, which literally means "the end of Summer", has taken place for over two decades now.

As in previous years, the 2017 Torchlight Procession opens the annual Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations with around 8,000 torchbearers creating a "river of fire" down the Royal Mile. The previous year saw around 30,000 people come out for the event.

The Street Party (tickets, review) is perhaps the best-known event in the 3-day Edinburgh's Hogmanay Festival. The New Year street party is a ticketed event that in 2017-2018 runs for seven hours the length of Princes Street, with live bands, a carnival atmosphere and dancing in the street.
