Four out of every five tickets sold at the Edinburgh Usher Hall for the Dalai Lama public talk were online which was an all time record for the Usher Hall.

Traditionally, Hogmanay is marked in Scotland with friends and first footing at the strike of midnight in the New Year.

Edinburgh's Hogmanay is teaming up with the Fringe Office this year to sell tickets for the New Year festivities. Tickets can be bought in person at the Fringe Office, telephone, or online from 9am on 1st September (see buying Edinburgh's Hogmanay tickets).

Yesterday being 8th August, or 8/8, the Edinburgh International Festival press office released a cute press release announcing £8 ticket deals for under-26 year olds. Sounds like excellent value, if you qualify (proof of age required).

Half-price preview tickets for the hugly popular Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle go on sale tomorrow morning (10am, Monday, 25th July). The preview performance is on the 4th August at 9.30pm.

The second allocation of tickets for the Virgin Money Fireworks Concert will be released on 18th July at 10am, online, over the phone and in person at The Hub.

The Festival Fringe Society launched its brochure for Fringe 2011 with customary hype this morning. This year's Fringe is "bigger than ever before". There is a staggering 2,542 "events" over the month of August. 

Kath Mainland announced the launch of the new 2011 Edinburgh Fringe programme this morning and it's bigger than ever with 2,542 shows. Fringe 2011 has an estimated 21,192 performers giving 41,689 performances, an increase of about 4% on last year, which reaffirms the Edinburgh August Festivals as the largest art festival in the World.

Tickets go on sale this morning (Saturday 2nd April) for the Edinburgh International Festival. EIF director Jonathan Mills has waxed that this year's Far Eastern themed (or "Far Western" as Mills has suggested) festival will be "highly embroidered, exquisite, gorgeous".

"It will intoxicate people with its ravishing beauty," says Mills.

Public sales of Edinburgh International Festival tickets start from 10am this Saturday 2 April. Ticket prices start at just £10. Students and under-18s can claim 50 per cent off.

Tickets for two of the main events at Edinburgh's Hogmanay are now sold out: Concert in the Gardens on 31 December, headlined by Biffy Clyro with special guests The Charlatans and Billy Bragg, and tickets for the Keilidh, also on 31 December.

An allocation of tickets to the Bank of Scotland Fireworks Concert 2010, the grand finale to the Edinburgh International Festival, goes on sale online today from 11.00am. Tickets are limited to four per person.

The Edinburgh Fringe Society was set up in 1959 as a registered charity to advise and support anyone taking part in the Fringe and to provide information and ticketing services for Fringe participants and the public. It also promotes the Fringe through its website and the Fringe programme.

The Thistle Installation service, is usually held in the Chapel of the Order of the Thistle in St Giles Cathedral every other year.
