About the venue

The Assembly Hall is in the neo-gothic building situated directly East of Edinburgh Castle. With twin turrets forking above the skyline it is clearly visible as you climb up the Mound.

The mid-19th century hall is equally impressively with its huge vaulted ceilings and spacious courtyard. With its coats of arms, Victorian portrait paintings, and wooden panelling it harks back to a different era.

The Assembly Hall is the annual meeting place of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

In August, the 750 plus capacity venue hosts shows put on by Assembly Festival, in three performance spaces: the Main Hall, Rainy Hall and Baillie Room.
