Ghillie Dhu
Ghillie Dhu
2 Rutland Place
Edinburgh EH1 2AD
A bar in a converted church with impressive grand interior and own draft ales. Bar staff in rugby shirts and kilts, and a baronial, banquet hall style set-up in the body of the old church. In Scottish folklore a Ghillie Dhu is a spirit that guards trees. It seems an appropriate choice of name - even on a scorching, sunny day it is dark and mysterious inside.
During the Fringe, the Pleasance moves in with music, comedy, dance and cabaret, until the wee, wee hours (5am, to be precise).
