A £46.4 million Royal Museum Project to renovate the 150 year-old Victorian era building is currently taking place. It includes opening a new hall space at street level.
The project, which received public funding of £33.8m from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Scottish Government, should be completed by 2011.
Half of the museum should be open during the duration of the building work including the whole of the National Museum of Scotland.
