Home-made ginger beer, and satisfying veggie platter

I went to the Roseleaf pub for the first time last week at lunchtime when it was a cosy, quiet contrast to what I am assured by locals is a packed house in the evenings.

An eclectic decor and menu make every look and taste a delight. Homemade ginger beer and raspberry lemonade started our experience, to satisfying slurps all around.

We decided to share an anti-pasti platter of falafel, Spanish tortilla, veggie haggis croquette, olives, tzatziki, Greek salad, sundried tomatoes, crispy halloumi cheese, hummus & toasted homemade bread.

If that sounds like a mouthful, it was an artful arrangement on a 3-tiered plate stand that was quite satisfying, if not particularly surprising in its flavour. I wish now I had sampled the delicious-sounding risotto or the veggie brunch plate that included haggis, portobello mushroom, spinach, beans, and the other usual suspects. Perhaps on another visit.

If you're going in the evening, their "Pot tails" (or cocktails served in tea pots and cups) sound creative and received the stamp of approval from one of my companions.
