Dizzyingly tempting array of chocolate choices

Coco’s owner, Rebecca Knights-Kerswell, is a member of The Chocolate Society, whose aim is “...to alert the populace to the cocoa content in bars...”,  a member of SOPA (The Scottish Organic Producers Association) and is committed to the Ethical Trading Initiative (details on its website).

The chocolate is made by artisan chocolatiers in Scotland using the finest ingredients. Coco Chocolate is organic and GM free, the dark chocolate is vegan and most of the products are also gluten free. There is a chocolate fact sheet that tells the customer at some length how very good chocolate is very good for the health, being full of vitamins, minerals anti-depressants and lots of properties that help prevent nasty things like cancer and heart disease.

These facts are all very laudable, but the bottom line is Coco chocolate is fantastic to eat and drink.  It is like going in to a scene from the film Chocolat, where you are surrounded by imaginative and tempting delights. (I’ve yet to see Johnny Depp or Juliette Binoche but it’s Edinburgh – anything is possible!) How about Earl Grey chocolate,  Milk Chocolate with Rose or with Caramel, Pinenut & Seasalt,  Dark Chocolate with Orange and Geranium Oil and Orange and Lemon Rind?

They sell a range of hot chocolates for drinking on the premises or for buying to make at home in flavours of nutmeg, lavender, chilli or rose and black pepper to name but a few.

It's dizzyingly tempting for any chocolate lover and this new Broughton branch feels as though it’s always been there. Good Feng Shui? Who knows? Whatever it is, it works. I know of no other establishment that serves a real chocolate espresso which is heaven in a cup. Broughton Village just keeps on getting better thanks to places like this!
