Video: Edible Garden Project at RGBE

With food security and food miles increasingly on people's minds, and lengthy allotment waiting lists, the Edible Garden project at the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh is a great way for budding gardeners to find out more about   growing your own food.

The project, which just secured additional funding from the People's Postcode Lottery to continue with its educational activities for another year, has drop-in sessions on subjects such as how to go peat-free and wild-life friendly, how to plan your edible garden, and seasonal advice if you are wondering what you should be doing around your patch of green right now.

There's also the inaugural, 10-day Science on a Plate festival from the end of March.

Volunteers help maintain the demonstration garden and provide support and horticultural advice, whether it's growing winter veggies in poly tunnels or the best seed/plant varieties for the temperate  Edinburgh climate.

This short video is an introduction to the Edible Garden.
